About Borrowed Gardens

I’ve always been drawn to the plants growing around us, their beauty, and the way they can support and heal us when we learn to understand them. My name is Christine Richter, and through my work I create jewelry and hold workshops that invite a closer look at the wild plants we so often overlook.

As a society, we have become increasingly disconnected, both from ourselves and from nature. Through my art and workshops, I want to inspire presence, curiosity and an appreciation for the beauty of simplicity. More than anything, I want to encourage a deeper connection to the living world around us.

My relationship with nature began early. As a child, I collected flowers and leaves and pressed them in my mother’s cookbooks, wanting to preserve what I found beautiful. Even today, she still tells me when she discovers yet another flower between the pages.

In my early twenties, I lost myself and my connection with nature. Finding my way back was a long and difficult process, but nature remained a constant presence. A place where I felt grounded, held and at home. Borrowed Gardens was born during one of the hardest periods of my life, as I slowly found my way back to myself and to nature.

Today, my work is a way of honoring that relationship and sharing it with others. Through jewelry, workshops and storytelling, I want to let the love I feel for nature travel further, and perhaps help others rediscover their own connection along the way.
